I like that this chili isn't too thick. It is full of flavor, you wouldn't miss the beef. This is a great healthy dinner or lunch. I make this and freeze the leftovers to take to work for lunch. It's great on its own without added sour cream or cheese but if you want to add it, why not! Enjoy!
2 lbs. extra lean ground turkey
½ onion chopped
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 can of diced green chilies
1 can of no name black beans, drained and rinsed
1 large can of diced Tomatoes (do not drain)
1 398 ml can Hunts no salt added Tomato sauce
1/2 can of water from Tomato sauce can
1/2 can of water from Tomato sauce can
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. white vinegar
3 tbsp. regular yellow mustard
2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. salt
In a large pot add onions and meat, sprinkled with garlic powder
and cook until no longer pink.Next add the green chilies, beans, tomatoes, brown sugar, tomato sauce, water and spices and stir until combined.Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer for about 20 minutes. Makes 8-10 servings, depending on how big your portions are.
